Virginia Beach Family Vacation Week

Atlantic Breeze Vacation Home in the Oceanfront Resort is a Family Favorite!

Virginia Beach family vacation week offers the best of summertime fun! As a child, family vacation week at the beach is often the most anticipated week of the entire year…and as parents, we still remember moments from our childhood family vacations. The beach, of course, is the most celebrated vacation destination for families, and for good reasons. A combination of weather, scenery and activities set the stage for the best of experiences and memories! I still remember going to the beach once a year with my family. I can reflect on specific memories from that time in my life. Dad worked all the time, mom was busy too, my brother and sister had their own school and sports activities, but that one week we all came together as a family for this special family focused summer event.

Today with the daily pressures of raising a family the family vacation week has become even more critical to fostering a lifetime family bond. Parents and children can visit in a relaxed context to improve communication. It’s also a great way to spend time with the grandparents. Bringing all the generations together at the beach is wonderful! Newer vacation booking services such as HomeAway and AirB&B seek to dilute the family unit and this often critical vacation week experience trying to convince families that a two or three days is more than enough time to invest in your family. That just isn’t so, however, as the family unit remains the cornerstone of our values.

Nothing compares to a quality family vacation to hit the reset button and get reacquainted with each other at a deeper level. You cannot convince me that my family isn’t worth a week a year and many wish it could be more. The family vacation week is an annual family hallmark experience like no other! We all benefit from the family summer vacation as some vocalize it more than others. Fact is, family matters most!

So, how can we make the most of our family vacation week at the beach? What is the most effective way to save time and money without sacrificing the best time ever? That’s simple,  consider staying in a family vacation rental home located in the heart of the oceanfront resort. Atlantic Breeze is just that – a family vacation rental home central to extraordinary family activities. From the boardwalk to the strip, restaurants and shops to music and performances, your Virginia Beach family vacation week can be as full of activities as you desire.

Okay, let’s take a look at some ideas for how to max out the memories during your Virginia Beach family vacation week! A week can breeze by fast but each day can be family magic. Take a moment to review the many opportunities the Virginia Beach oceanfront has to offer. Whether you are seven or 70, there are limitless ways to be together. Here are some daily themes to plan your ultimate Virginia Beach family vacation week:

Day 1 – All About the Beach!

Rise and Shine

Check out surfline.com to check out the tides. Sandcastle motes and bodyboarding can be served by the rising tides. Our lifeguards are on duty by 9:30 every morning, but the early beachgoers get the best waterfront spots on the sand. Squish the sand between your toes!

Surf’s Up

Parents set up the blankets, beach chairs, umbrellas and coolers for the day. Be close to the surf to keep an eye on the young ones, or to jump in on the action. Bodyboards come in all sizes and is sure to be the family favorite riding natures rollercoaster again and again. The cool water is a perfect complement to the bright sunshine. It doesn’t matter your age, bodyboarding in the surf is the ride of a lifetime! Build a the family sandcastle and let the surf fill the mote. I like to make sea creatures like fish and octopus for my children to ride and pose on for fun family pictures.

Settle In

Pack a radio or smartphone for custom tunes and don’t forget a great summer read. With the sun on your face and the ocean breeze blowing the pages turn themselves! Pack a lunch and snacks because playing makes you hungry. What are your family favorites for a beach picnic? Discuss this with the kids prior to your arrival so you have those perfect treats ready to go! Eating lunch together on a beach blanket is way better than sitting cooped up in a restaurant…and the sand tastes good too.

Go Get It

Don’t forget the frisbee, football, or volleyball to play with in the sand. There are several volleyball nets set along the coast for all families to use for free. Nothing creates smiles like catching a frisbee on the summer wind. Parents and children can connect through a shared outdoor activity and the beach is the perfect setting!

Atlantic Breeze Family Favorite

Become local chefs by creating a memorable family meal in the comfort of your vacation home kitchen. Fish tacos are a local favorite. Take a minute before your vacation trip to find a fish taco recipe. You can pick up ingredients ahead of time and stop by one of the many fish markets up the street to incorporate the catch of the day caught by local fishermen.

Family game night is a great way to conclude today’s vacation theme. Your home is equipped with chess, checkers, backgammon and other board games. I suggest a family air hockey or foosball tournament in the game room. Foosball fits four at a time, and is sure to have everyone laughing like crazy!

Day 4 – Arts & Culture

Rise and Shine

Okay lets face it, getting out on the beach early is awesome. The ocean is the main attraction, after all. As a child bodysurfing and bodyboarding was the best. I remember making new friends out on the waves. My new friends and I looked forward to meeting up the next day to hang out in the surf! A natural pool like no other, the ocean has huge attraction to me over floating in chlorine. My best beach memories are those of getting lost in time surfing the waves. There is something centering about the beach to get our minds back on track. After a morning of bodyboarding and lying in the sand, its off to today’s theme.

Surf’s Up

The VIBE District, adjacent to where Atlantic Breeze is located, is the area of the Virginia Beach resort dedicated to the arts. Walk south to 17th street and take in some cool shops and galleries. See works from local talent and take some photos in front of the many supersize street murals in the VIBE District created by local artists. Pop in at a local dive favorite like Commune for a fresh cup of java or a healthy bite to eat. The VIBE District is the newest district in the resort area and is sure to capture your imagination. Kids will love the vibrant artwork on the sides of buildings while you walk about.
