Sandstock – A Tribute To Rock & Roll is a beach-inspired variation on “Woodstock” at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront June 26-28. National and regional tribute artists cover songs from some of the greatest rockers in history. New this year is a 50th Anniversary tribute to the original 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Festival. All Sandstock performances are free and everyone is welcome.

Original Woodstock rockers Jimi Hendrix, The Who and Santana will be honored with tribute performances by Kiss The Sky, Bargain and Soul Sacrifice. In addition to the Woodstock 50th Anniversary memories, Sandstock will also feature modern-day bands Foreigner, Boston and Bon Jovi with tribute performances by Head Games, Don’t Look Back and Slippery When Wet. Sing along to your favorite tunes of the 80s and 90s with your toes in the sand on the Virginia Beach Oceanfront! All tribute concert performances are held on the Hippy Dippy Stage – built right on the sand at 24th Street.

Also new this year is an educational music component sponsored by the School of Rock. 24th Street Park comes alive on Saturday afternoon as aspiring musicians perform on the Flower Power Stage in Sandstock Village. In addition to performing, School of Rock will be providing hands-on educational activities. School of Rock staff will provide instruction on real instruments as well as leading musical games to learn concepts in a fun way. Guests can also register for a free class at the School of Rock to continue their learning after the event. Pop Up interactive art activities throughout the event complete the “jam” packed schedule.

The festival features a fantastic food and beverage menu. Beer and wine, as well as non-alcoholic beverages including smoothies and soft drinks, complement great festival food served from vendors on the beach.

Proceeds support the Virginia Legends Walk.

Festival Facts

Festival gate opens to Hippy Dippy Stage and alcohol sales begin on the beach one hour prior to first Hippy Dippy Stage performance. Sponsor and vendor displays open on Boardwalk one hour prior to first stage performance.

Festival is held outdoors rain or shine. Festival may be suspended or postponed due to severe weather or in case of severe weather forecast.

No alcohol or glass may be brought into the Festival.

Persons must be at least 21 years of age with a valid photo ID to purchase and/or consume alcoholic beverages.

For the safety of all, Event Security may screen persons entering the Festival.

Ticketing Information:

All performances, which are free to the public, are held on “dueling” stages on the beach at 24th Street, adjacent to the 24th Street Park.
